Procedure Name Certificate of Origin
Description

 

Procedure to receive Certification of Origin (CO) for Third Country

1.       A company wishing to receive Certificate of Origin should pick up an application form at any local chamber outposts mentioned above at a cost of Nepalese Rupees  15.00.  

2.       The application form is to be submitted to the local Chamber  outposts with the following  documents:

a.       Company or Firm Registration Certificate

b.      Tax Registration Certificate

c.       VAT/PAN Registration Certificate

d.      License and permits (if required) for export of specific goods

e.      Mode of Payment

f.       Commercial Invoice

3.       The local chambers reviews the application and decides to issue the Certificate of Origin if the application and the supporting documents are in order.

4.       The applicant is required to pay 0.09 percent of total amount in the Commercial Invoice. The payment should be made in Nepalese currency.

5.       Upon receiving the payment,  a Certificate of Origin is issued by the local chamber.  

 

Procedure to receive Certification of Origin (CO) for India

1.      A company wishing to export goods manufactured in Nepal to India for the first time has to submit an application for issuance for Certificate of Origin at FNCCI. The following documents are to be submitted with the application

a.       Cost Sheet

b.      Company or Firm Registration Certificate

c.       Tax Registration Certificate

d.      VAT/PAN Registration Certificate

e.       License and permits (if required) for export of specific goods

2.      The technical committee at FNCCI will review the application and make field visits factories to learn about the applicants’ factory’s production capacity, labour capacity, etc.    

3.      The technical committee reviews the application with a report developed after the field visits. If the information provided by the company seems matches the production capacity, the technical committee will approve the application and provide recommendation for a Certification of Origin.

4.      A copy of recommendation letter is send to local chambers.

5.      The firm is then required to fill an application form and apply for Certificate of Origin at the local chambers office with the following documents

a.       Company or Firm Registration Certificate

b.      Tax Registration Certificate

c.       VAT/PAN Registration Certificate

d.      License and permits (if required) for export of specific goods

e.       Commercial Invoice

6.      The local chamber accepts the Form – A if the information entered is correct.

7.      If the application is approved (not rejected) then the exporter is requested to pay a service charge of 0.09 percent of total amount in the Commercial Invoice. The payment should be made in Nepalese currency.

8.      The local chamber issues a Certificate of Origin.

2. Confederation of Nepalese Industries 

The Confederation of Nepalese Industries’ also Certificate of Origin. The application forms are available at CNI office for the cost of Nepalese Rupees 20.

The following chapters of CNI are authorized to issue Certificate of Origin 

1. Jhapa Chapter Birtamod, Jhapa

2. Koshi Chapter Biratnagar

3. Parsa-Bara Chapter Birganj

4. Banke Chapter VarshaMetal Industries, Banke

5. Kanchanpur kailali Chapter MahendraNagar

 

The procedure of receiving Certificate of Origin

1.       A company has to submit the Application Form with the supporting documents at Confederation of Nepalese Industries. The following documents  to be submitted with the application:

a.       Company or Firm Registration Certificate

b.      Tax Registration Certificate

c.       VAT/PAN Registration Certificate

d.      License if required for export of specific goods

e.       Mode of Payment

f.        Commercial Invoice

2.      If a company is exporting for the first time, CNI will visit the factory premises to review production capacity of the factories. If the report of the field visit if positive and the application seems to be in order, CNI will issue the Certificate of Origin

3.      If a company has previously received Certificate of Origin from CNI, then CNI will review the application and decide to issue Certificate of Origin if the application seems to be in proper order. 

4.      CNI will issue Certificate of Origin with a charge of 0.09 percent of the Commercial Invoice. The payment is to be made in Nepalese currency.

 

3. Nepal Chamber of Commerce 

The Nepal Chamber of Commerce also issue Certificate of Origin. The following disctrict chambers also issue the Certificate of Origin

a. Chamber of Commerce Jhapa, Jhapa

b. Morang Chamber of Commerce, Morang

c. Byapar Sangh Rupandehi, Rupandehi
